Chatting Children Speech & Language Center
Chatting Children Speech and Language Center is a pediatric speech-language therapy practice committed to helping children develop and families thrive. Our goal is to treat children with communication disorders and educate families on how to incorporate speech and language skills into daily living.

Our primary goal is to help every child be successful academically and to be an effective communicator. Chatting Children Speech and Language Center believes that children get the most out of therapy when it is fun, rewarding and meaningful with an appropriate balance of child-initiated and adult directed activities.

We make use of standardized assessments as well as informal evaluations to best determine a course of action for each child. We aim to build strengths as well as support development with play based therapy that is fun and motivating. Progress is measured with re-evaluation and therapy is directed to make the most out of therapy sessions.
Our Therapists

Chatting Children is owned and operated by Julie K. Cotter, MS, CCC-SLP who has been working with children in this field for over 14 years. Julie is a speech-language pathologist who is certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed in Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Speech Language Evaluation

Our comprehensive speech language evaluations include one hour of testing through the use of standardized assessments and informal evaluations, a discussion with parents regarding the results of the assessment, and a full written report. Comprehensive evaluations are recommended for children who are being evaluated for language, reading and/or social difficulties.
Developmental Milestones

Here we list common developmental milestones in terms of social skills and receptive/expressive language.
