About
Report
On behalf of The Pegasus School community, thank you for your interest in our school. Whether you are a new or familiar friend, we think you will find our website to be a wonderful snapshot of Pegasus and what we believe distinguishes us in the independent school community. Pegasus was founded on the belief that strong intellect and a passion for learning should be nurtured and inspired and that learning must become a lifelong process.
Mission
Report
The story of Pegasus begins with intellectual curiosity and compassion. We are a vibrant academic community that inspires bright, motivated students to discover and develop their unique gifts. Teachers and students build trusting relationships that foster self-reliance, confidence, and innovative thinking.
Why Pegasus
Report
The shared experiences of our community build the foundation of The Pegasus School and make it a unique place to learn and flourish. Let's begin with the history of Pegasus-it is the core of what makes us who we are today. In 1984, Dr. Laura Hathaway (1941 - 2009) founded The Pegasus School with only 40 students, and a small group of parents and teachers.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice DEIJ
Report
The Pegasus School embraces the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ). DEIJ is not a new concept to Pegasus. These values are woven into the fabric of our school, and it is important to highlight them and reflect on how they are demonstrated within our community. This is a commitment that honors the humanity of us all.
Structure of the Board
Report
The Board performs much of its work through a committee structure of five standing committees: Audit, Development, Facilities, Finance, Governance, and Mission. From time to time, the Board also utilizes ad hoc committees for specific projects. Committees are advisory and make recommendations to the Board.
