What We Do
Report
At SCPENS, children learn about themselves and the world around them through play. By participating in a stimulating learning environment with other children their own age, students develop skills and build confidence-socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically. Parents actively involved in their child's learning are better able to understand and meet their child's needs.
Teachers
Report
Darcy, husband, Doug and two children are SCPENS Alumni. Darcy has worked as an early interventionist for 15 years, serving families in our community with children from birth to three. She enjoys observing and working with children and parents as they learn from one another and develop new skills. She feels the SCPENS classrooms are where all are welcome, where the "work"of children is play and that the process is more important than the product.
Parent's Role
Report
You'll be an active participant in your child's education at SCPENS. You'll see firsthand what your child is learning. You'll be there to witness and support developing friendships and learn ways to expand your children's interests. You'll model for your child how important education is because you'll be right there in the classroom with him or her.
Program Fees
Report
Families enrolling at SCPENS are required to pay a nonrefundable $100 registration fee reserving their place(s) in the program. This fee is paid at the time of enrollment. Our active fundraising program ensures the success of our school. Each family is expected to participate in at least two fundraising events during the year to help the school acquire the additional funds needed to support the program.
Board of Directors
Report
The Board of Directors is the administrative body that governs our co-op's business affairs. Board meetings are open to all co-op members and are held once a month. Some of the board's principal business includes the school budget, expenditures and staffing. The board members are elected by the parent membership for a one year term.
