About Us
Report
Glencoe Junior Kindergarten and Nursery School (GJK) is an independent, nonprofit, and play-based preschool dedicated to the unique development of each child. We recognize that they're ready to interact within a secure setting beyond the home and provide a warm and nurturing environment that stimulates and inspires them to explore, create, learn, and imagine.
Our History

In 1942, a community of parents and the Glencoe Board of Education worked together to establish Glencoe Junior Kindergarten and Nursery School (GJK), a preschool based upon "good modern educational methods." More than seventy-five years later, GJK continues this journey as a vibrant preschool that is nationally recognized for exceeding early childhood education standards.

They also coordinate fundraising efforts, plan educational and social events, and welcome new families into the GJK community. We're always look for parents to join the board or one of our committees.

Our Community
Report
Teacher communication: Two-way communication with a child's teacher is key for his/her success, and our teachers value the opportunity to share with their parents. We promote an open dialogue all year long through bi-annual parent-teacher conferences, phone call updates, emails, and frequent classroom and school newsletters.
