About
Report
Portland Area Youth Soccer (PAYSA) offers children ages 3 to 14 an opportunity to play soccer. We offer both recreational and travel programs. Scholarships are available to ensure all children interested in soccer have an opportunity to play. We also provide resources about camps, clinics and other soccer-related activities.
Mission
Report
PAYSA provides a quality and age appropriate experiences for boys and girls and young men and women to develop their skills, knowledge and love of the game of soccer. Our recreational programs are open to all players regardless of their skill level or playing experience. Our travel program provides opportunities for individual players to advance beyond the recreational level.
History
Report
PAYSA's beginnings were very modest. The club started as a weeklong clinic during spring break in 1982 for children who lived on the West End. The first program had two age groups with four teams for each group, and it was called the West End Soccer League. The club was founded on the principles of skills development and enjoyment of play.
Programs
Report
All PAYSA programs are single sex, and we field teams for about 1,000 children each fall. Our programs are designed to emphasize skill development. Players are assigned teams and no standings are maintained. Younger players play short-sided games (6 vs. 6; 8 vs. 8) designed to increase touches on the ball and promote skills development.
Fall Rec
Report
Teams will be formed following the closing of registration, based on registered players and available coach volunteers. If you are interested in coaching or helping the program in any capacity, please contact PAYSA. PAYSA has a financial assistance program that provides financial support to any family that cannot afford the registration fee.
