Active play provides more than exercise. It stimulates the mind, engages the imagination, sparks socialization, and develops emotional and physical skills. That's why St. Columba's provides dynamic and diverse playgrounds and classrooms that inspire children to explore ideas through play, and it's why we prioritize time outdoors, enabling our students to learn through discovery.
At St. Columba's, we recognize that each child is a masterpiece with unlimited potential and capacity. We take great care to foster their individuality, providing both personalized attention and the ultimate environment to grow and develop at their own pace. Our teachers nurture, guide, and encourage our students to learn in a way that meets their specific needs and personalities.

About
Report
A father recently explained that his son asks each day, "Is it a school day or a home day?" Monday through Friday he leaps into his clothes when he hears "school day" but on Saturday, it's nothing but disappointment. He'd like St. Columba's Nursery School to be open seven daysa week. What makes our Nursery School such a special place for children?
Mission
Report
At St. Columba's Nursery School, we believe that each child, each family, and each staff member has an infinite capacity to learn and grow. We cultivate their God-given and unique abilities in a joyful atmosphere of supported inquiry, sociability, and inclusion. We also believe the most important skills that children learn in preschool are social ones-how to make a friend, be a friend, and express their thoughts and ideas.
School Profile
Report
Every child is as unique as a thumbprint: changing and growing along a developmental continuum. The philosophy of St. Columba's Nursery School affirms that every person has an inestimable capacity to grow and learn-children, parents, and staff. Our approach to teaching and learning involves discerning a child's level of development and challenging him or her with new and varied experiences.
Faculty and Staff
Report
Each classroom at St. Columba's Nursery School is staffed by two teachers and supported by weekly visits from our floating staff. These educators provide an extra pair of hands so the lead teachers can work with small groups, do observations, and plan upcoming lessons. In addition, St. Columba's employs a full-time coordinator to manage our outdoor classrooms-the playgrounds.
Church Partnership
Report
St. Columba's Nursery School is the largest ministry of St. Columba's Episcopal Church, and in the spirit of hundreds of years of Episcopal educational tradition, welcomes children and families of all faith traditions or none at all. Service learning and our weekly chapel (called Get Together) are each a part of our Episcopal-ness.
