At PUNS, we share Piaget's belief that children learn by doing and that play is the work of childhood. In our program, children learn through play and by engaging with a variety of learning centers and activities which change throughout the school year. Our educational curriculum and philosophy are based on developmentally appropriate practices that nurture the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each individual child.
We love to see our students happily involved in play! Our goal is to encourage every child who attends PUNS to enjoy their preschool experience, develop positive feelings about themselves, and to engage in creative play that encourages new friendships.

Our educational curriculum and instructional methods reflect our core belief that each child is unique. We strive to teach "the whole child", encouraging your child's natural course of development, as well as his or her imagination and cooperative play skills.

Since 1963, we have been providing a safe and fun atmosphere where children can learn and grow. Pittsford United Nursery School is a non-profit, non-denominational nursery school located just outside the Village of Pittsford. Originally founded in 1963 as United Nursery School at 123 S. Main Street, Audrey Johnson, Pat Robinson and Wenda Silco first opened the school with only 18 students.
What is a Co-Op? How Does it work

A cooperative preschool is one in which the parents (or grandparents, aunt/uncle, nanny, babysitter, etc.) take an active role in the school. This includes working in the classroom, a January work day, as well as work units that all help our school function and keep our tuition low. While we would love to see every family participate in the co-op, we realize that this may not be possible due to time restraints or busy schedules.

We are very proud of the exceptional teaching staff that we have at PUNS! All of our teachers are dedicated professionals who go out of their way to make your child(ren)'s preschool experience exceptional. All of our lead teachers have teaching credentials, and all teaching staff are also certified in CPR, First Aid and AED, as well as allergy protocols and procedures.

This room has many purposes at PUNS! We typically use this space for our gross motor class, as well as for indoor recess on rainy days. We also usually host special events in here such as our fall festival, student performances, and our Mother's Day luncheon. Here students engage in creative play! This room often features imaginative play areas that go along with what students are currently learning about.
