
Joe Pilates called it contrology, the art of control where mind and body work together. We simply call it Pilates. Pilates is a series of resistance and flexibility exercises specifically designed to strengthen muscles as they are stretched and to balance the muscle actions of the body. Pilates builds strength without excess bulk, creating a sleek, toned body and excellent posture.
The Pilates Powerhouse, or the abdominal muscles, with support from underneath by the muscles of the pelvis, back, glutes, and inner thigh region, initiates each and every movement during a typical Pilates training session. Consequently, the entire powerhouse quickly becomes strong and toned. Connected to a strong core, the limbs then have greater freedom to achieve strength and range of motion.

Pilates compliments and tends to improve technique in any sport or modality. The authentic Pilates method evens out muscular and postural imbalances in addition to increasing flexiblity and improving core strength.
Over the years, we have had the pleasure of training members of the United States National Paddling Team, golfers, baseball players, tennis players, basketball players, dancers, Crossfitters, runners, equestrians, swimmers, weekend warriors, exercise enthusiasts, and the soon to be fit.All senior instructors on staff have been certified through Joseph Pilates protege, Romana Kryzanowska, and/or a member of her certifying staff.

The Pilates system can be individually tailored to enhance performance in any sport or modality. Private sessions are designed by the instructor to meet the specific training needs of the individual client. Our instructors will evaluate posture, movement patterns, and areas of strength and weakness.
