Tailing Tales Fishing Charters is focused on providing light tackle inshore / nearshore fishing charters in Sarasota and the lower Tampa Bay areas including Anna Maria Island, and Bradenton. Captain Kris Winkel has extensive knowledge and experience fishing the Sarasota and Tampa Bay areas, having lived and fished these inshore / nearshore waters his entire life.
Sarasota and Tampa Bay are Florida's largest estuary, with vast numbers of grass flats, creeks, shoals, mangroves and shore lines to fish. This area is home to a variety of fish species and great fishing spots including the Skyway Bridge, Egmont Key, Manatee River, Terra Ceia Bay, and Sarasota Bay.

About Capt. Kris
Report
Captain Kris fishes all through the year. When he is not charter fishing or just fishing for himself, he also makes a living commercial fishing for Ladyfish, Jack Crevalle, Sheepshead, and Mullet during the Fall run. In fact, fishing for Mullet is a huge passion for Kris, from catching them on the flats to chasing them to the passes and out to the gulf!
Charters
Report
Come aboard and let the good times start! Capt. Kris provides a custom inshore fishing boat and all the gear, the rest is up to you! There will be plenty of ice to keep your catch fresh and we will personally clean and bag your catch for you. Bait will be ready and waiting when you board including shiners, threadfins and pinfish, or you can have the option of riding along and to see how we put fresh bait in the livewell.
Fishing Tampa Bay
Report
Fishing the Bay and backwater is always interesting - from tailing Red Fish to Snook popping the bait out of the water. The idea behind fishing in these areas is in the tides. From the high water the fish push up in the mangroves or oyster bars to the falling water which pushes the fish off the bar.
Tarpon
Report
Tarpon are probably my most favorite fish of all to target. From the bridge, to the Flats, to the beach and anywhere in between these fish will let you know when they take the bait. When you hook a Tarpon there won't be a tap or a tug on the line. It will be all out, there is no time for sandbagging, this is the real deal!
Snook
Report
Snook fishing at it's finest. Snook can be caught almost all year around in the Bay and surrounding estuaries. From December to the end of February it can be slow, however, they will often seek structures or be in the rivers. Trolling while using artificial or shrimp is the ticket. Going into summer to late summer the best times to fish for Snook are generally in the morning or late afternoon.
