Klinker Brick Winery
Steve and Lori represent the fifth generation of their family to grow grapes in Lodi. Warm and friendly, with a passion for producing exceptional wine, they view themselves as stewards of the land and their ancient vines. In addition to their own property, they manage a number of vineyards in the region with the goal of producing incredible fruit.

They started Klinker Brick Winery and produced their first vintage of Old Vine Zinfandel in 2000. Joseph joined Klinker Brick in 2008 after starting his career in the nineties as an apprentice with Gnekow Family Wines. From there he worked under Barry Gnekow at Hahn and also Michael David as a cellar master and ultimately our full time winemaker.
Services
Our Wines
Report
Producing standout, world-class wines is the top priority at Klinker Brick Winery. Relentless attention to detail begins in the vineyard as grape vines require constant care from dormancy to harvest. From farmer's hand to winemaker's barrel, the pursuit of quality is resolute. Klinker Brick wines continue to re-set the bar with each vintage produced to date.
Why Klinker Brick
Report
We are often asked why we named our winery, Klinker Brick. Klinker Bricks are highly prized bricks that grace many of the historical buildings in Lodi, including our home. Chosen by Craftsmen architects in the 1920's for their distinctive qualities, including unique shapes and dark, rich color, they are denser and heavier in weight than regular bricks.
Old Vines
Report
The most rich, intense and multi-dimensional zinfandel tends to be produced from "Old Vines", vines that are at least 50 years old. Soil and climate play an important role in the character and style of wines from Old Vine Vineyards. The longer, warmer, drier growing season in Lodi provides a distinct advantage over coastal areas.
Our Old Vine Vineyards
Report
These vineyards are generally head-trained and dry farmed, yielding an average of 2.0 to 3.5 ton per acre. Some of the oldest vineyards have yields as small as.25 ton per acre. While there are significant limitations in the quantity of grapes produced, the quality of fruit is exceptional.

The grapes for our Klinker Brick "Old Vine" Zinfandel come from several different vineyards within the Lodi Appellation, depending upon the highest quality of fruit produced each year, and has included several vineyards in the Mokelumne and in the Clements Hills region. From time to time, we produce single vineyard designated wines that express unique character, in addition to exceptional quality.
Medals & Awards
Report
Klinker Brick Winery is very proud to have earned a large number of medals and awards over the years from distinguished organizations and competitions across the country and the world. Below we feature some of our highlights. So what exactly is a Classic Lodi Zin, you might ask? I'd describe it as a value-priced, big, rich, spicy, high alcohol Zinfandel from old vines (85 years old in the case of this wine).
