Saffron serves an eclectic mixture of traditional Indian Cuisine punctuated by the flavors of the Himalayas. Our food stand true to its roots and origin while we source most of our produce locally. All dishes, sauces, naans and desserts are made in house from scratch. We are proud to be the first restaurant in Austin with a dedicated Nepalese menu.
Nepal is a land of many flavors, while many of its dishes are indigenous and indicative of its culture and people, while few are inspired by its immediate neighbors, India and China. Our Nepalese menu is a thoughtful mix of both.

For the past three years Saffron Austin has been the most highly rated and loved Indian restaurant in Austin. We have been very fortunate to have the love and support of the Indian community across the Greater Austin Metropolitan area. We take pride in the quality and consistency of our food and service.

Saffron is around the corner from us - I love their chicken tikka masala - side of a raita and a warm fresh naan everyone once and awhile. It's not inexpensive but the quality is so good I know they are paying a lot for their ingredients. My partner has a thing of their saag paneer in the house/ fridge at almost all times. Ask them for the tamarind and cilantro chutney when you pick up so you don't have to pay $3 for a huge side that will go to waste (well does in our house).

I absolutely love this restaurant and frequent it. The to go lunch special is enough food for more than one meal and it is absolutely delicious! The staff is always super friendly and the woman who is usually up front is the sweetest! I love this place and the people in it. I almost always get the vegetarian to go lunch special (they change up the dishes that are in it -usually saag paneer or matar paneer) with raita and mint chutney. If I had to say there was some they could work on- I once got vegetable pakora that was over fried. Considering how often I eat here, one tiny mistake over all this

Overpriced, overrated and mediocre Indian food. Spent a total of 25 bucks for 2 vegetarian dishes. I ordered the mushroom curry (bland) and the Kadai vegetables (delicious but not worth the price for the amount there were). I gave this place a try because it was near my work place but probably won't be coming back.

We've been getting takeout from this place for several years now and have simply loved it! One of my favorites is the vegetable biryani which is so flavorful and comes with delicious, fluffy rice and vegetables in a perfectly spiced explosion of taste. The chicken tikka is a favorite of our children and is also generously portioned and delicious. Another favorite is the dal, yellow lentils, which are perfectly cooked and spiced (you can order extra spicy, of you want). We usually get the Saffron naan, which is stuffed with a lightly sweet mixture of sweet potatoes and other spices. We have never

Saffron is kinda like when you realize that your date is a very nice person but there is no chemistry there. After 2 dates I had fun, but there's no love affair with this place.
The good and the not so great...Right now Saffron is take-out only. The person at the register is very friendly. Orders came out very quickly. The tandoori chicken was dry and gritty. I think that's what happens when too much of the marinade is left on chicken and it then overcooks-the yogurt "breaks" and becomes little gritty beads. The chana (chickpeas) were tasty, and the best flavored dish

I had already eaten my dinner when I had the craving for Indian food. I ordered the Paneer Chili (extra spicy), and the Jalapeño naan; and I was not ready for the sheer AROMA that rose from my takeout bag. I broke traffic laws to get home so I could eat it faster.
The vegetables were cooked to the perfect kind of crunchy , the paneer was lightly battered and fried, and the sauce was so delightfully flavorful with a complex spice that tingled in my mouth. The rice was seasoned I DONT KNOW HOW, but it was so good I ate that box by itself. The naan was better than expected, and had tons of jalape

We had a great experience with this business. Austin was in the middle of the great winter shut down of 2021, and Saffron was open for limited hours. We ordered chicken tandoori, paneer tika masala, and saffron naan. So delicious and welcomed after days of cold food! Also, appreciated, was that because of the roads we were running late and weren't going to make it before they closed to get our food. They stayed open so we could pick up our food. That's a considerate, customer-focused business.

Austin needs more Indian food. Period. But thankfully Saffron does an amazing takeout service. And not too far away. In the last couple months, my family and I have tried about everything on the menu. All authentically spiced with a wide mix of vegetarian/vegan and meat options. And the best part are the leftovers the next day-i always order more than we can eat for the leftovers. Only one complaint, the fried chicken was really dry. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but small pieces of tandoori red chicken, overcooked. Since I love their food, I'll forgive an off night on this

Another Yelp gamble. Came here based on the overwhelming positive reviews and am disappointed.
Note that I asked for each dish to be prepared as mild as possible.
The mango lassi is not as sweet as I like and I ended up adding a packet of artificial sweetener.
Ordered two appetizers and garlic naan. The garlic naan is super garlicky.
The chicken choila, despite my request for it to be mild, was still spicy.

Great take out. They were super busy and full of apologies for the wait, but the service was superb and the food was ready early! The food was also very good. Saag Paneer and Madras Curry both tasty. Medium heat was quite mild so I'm might order spicy next time). I really enjoyed the Bombay Brussels and Kurkuri Bhindi appetizers as well. Naan wasn't amazing but it was hot and fresh. Eager to go back and try more.

We called in the order, worked great. Food was ready in 20 minutes. We got chicken tikka masala, mango lassi, saag paneer, coconut shrimp curry, garlic naan and saffron naan, and gulab jamun. All of the curries came with basmati rice too. It was way too much food for 3 people but we loved it!
The chicken tikka masala was the best curry and the magi lassi was amazing. The gulab jamun was really good too! So fresh that the lady brought out a container that was too hot to hold. The naan was great too. The other curries were good but not as much of a standout.
All the curries were sealed really

Had dinner here with a friend pre-COVID, having not tried any other Indian places in Austin besides Tarka. We split the samosa, which was good, and then, because I am a glutton, ordered both the Amritsari seekh and the mattar paneer. I liked the mattar paneer but the Amritsari seekh was disappointing. None of it was very flavorful; basically just some cooked vegetables and pieces of paneer, and very little food for the cost of the dish.
I think this place has some interesting dishes if you want the more Nepalese end of Indian-Nepali cooking, but I'm not a big momo fan personally. Also seemed

What a great place for delicious Indian food. The staffs were friendly and attentive. Food are meeting our standards. We ordered Chicken masala and Korma in “hot”, and they’re surely spicy and tasty. Tandoori chicken had bone-in and boneless both on the hot plate. Overall, it was great dining experience. We will be coming back again! Highly recommended. (Ps. A friendly suggestion: the entire restaurant smelled like chlorine cleaning products... I appreciate they clean the place thoroughly, but I also hope they can ventilate more and more so when people walk in, it smell like a restaurant

Wish I could give more than 5, for Momos. Love for momos pulled me to this place, and certainly not disappointed. Chowmein as well was good. I forgot to let them know to make it hotter. Tashi, the owner was humble and he asked for the opinion of each of the customers.
Best Samosa in Austin, and totally worth the price. We ordered a lot and had to get to go..
A great place for Indian and Nepali food.
As usual, this place never disappoints with anything. Be it food or service :)

The place is clean and simplistic so that’s a good about this place. Other than that I don’t think it is any different than the other Indian food places - overpriced and the dishes aren’t really that authentic. I guess most of the Indian restaurants in the US get readymade sauces and make the cliche’ed chicken tikka, etc. I mean that’s now how Indian people make Indian dishes. They make them from scratch. Anyways, the taste was descent but paying a fortune ~ $50 for 2 curries, some naan and some appetizers hmmm.. not sure about that. You spend that money in India - you will get a whole

The good stuff is very *very* good.
This tiny jewel of a BYOB serves some of the best Indian food in Austin. It's got a somewhat eclectic menu that doesn't really focus on a particular region, but does have the usual suspects (tandoori this, sag paneer that, etc.)
The good stuff, as already mentioned, is very very good. The question tho' is "Which is the good stuff?", with the answer being "it varies". The only way to find out is to order a bunch-a things - some of which are most likely going to be great. Those items will continue to be great for a few weeks, when they mysteriously morph back

I've been meaning to try some more Indian places to eat, so I came here after being referred by a friend! Walked in and you immediately can smell the delicious food fill the air. At that point, I knew this place was legit. Started off dinner with the Bombay Brussel Sprouts. These were delicious as they were covered in a creamy mustard sauce! For my entrees, I first tried the Chilly Chicken, which is an Indo-Chinese dish. This one was a perfect mix of sweet & sour, really enjoyed the flavor! Next I tried the Achari Chicken, which is a North Indian dish, which is covered in spices and soaked in a
