John began working in Asian restaurants when he was in high school and continued to work for them throughout his high school and college career. With his Bachelors Degree in Business from NCSU, he had several corporate jobs but never left the restaurant industry. He met his wife Amy in her family's restaurant in 1997, and they were married in 2000.

A year later, John realized that he enjoyed the restaurant industry more than his corporate job and decided to open his first restaurant in 2002, with the support of Amy and her family. Since 2002, John continued to open restaurants and sold several of his businesses. In 2010, John and Amy decided to partner up and open Sushi O. Amy's experience in restaurants allowed her to help manage Sushi O.

Tuna, avocado, and crispy wontons topped with spicy mayo, eel sauce, sriracha, sesame seeds, and cilantro. Roast duck with scallion and cucumber wrapped in a tortilla and served with sweet brown sauce. Delicious chunks of crab meat, cream cheese and scallion wrapped in egg noodle skin, served with sweet chili sauce.
