Playland Nursery School is part of Camp Playland and is located on eighteen beautifully wooded acres in New Canaan. Our facilities include classrooms, playgrounds, athletic fields, a pond and nature trails. Camp Playland was founded in 1957 and Playland Nursery School was added in 1976 as an outgrowth of this successful summer program.

Playland Nursery School is owned by Gary, Barbara, and Steve Bloom who also own and direct Camp Playland. Gary has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and is certified by the State of Connecticut as a Head Teacher. Barbara has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Reading.
Employment

A head teacher candidate is required to have a college degree with a minimum of 36 college credits in child development and / or education. Assistant teachers must have a minimum of a CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential or equivalent. Teachers are selected for their experience, love of children and their ability to enhance our program.

Head teacher greets each child at their car at a designated drop-off area near their play area. Child is sent to the play area where assistant teachers greet the student. Children begin outdoor free play, closely supervised by assistant teachers. Children enjoy outdoor play in their designated play area (indoor Free Choice Time, if inclement weather) closely supervised by teachers.
