Mamaroneck Community Nursery School
MCNS was founded in the 1950s by a group of mothers from the Mamaroneck United Methodist Church. Our preschool is now nonsectarian, but remains in the original building where we started. MCNS is a parent cooperative, which means we are supported by an active group of parent volunteers. Parents assist in the classroom, provide healthy snacks for the children, make up our Board of Directors, and participate in community activities.

MCNS is more than just a preschool, it is a loving community that is dedicated the future of our children. Many of our students have returned to enroll their own children and several of our current teachers began their education here at MCNS. We are now educating our third generation of local families.

Report
I love to watch children's excitement when learning new things, and being instrumental in their learning process. I enjoy doing art with the children and allowing them to explore, problem solve, and be creative. I feel that it is important for children at this age to learn how to be independent, work cooperatively with peers, and be proud of their accomplishments.
Testimonials
Report
Our three children attended MCNS from 2007 to 2015 and we could not be happier with the nurturing, creative and engaging environment provided. From the toddler years to pre kindergarten, each year's curriculum was age appropriate and centered on a learn through play model that matched perfectly with our family's learning philosophy for this age group.

Report
MCNS is a school founded on the philosophy that play is a child's vehicle for learning. We view learning as a natural and ongoing process, which occurs as we interact with our environment. We see each child as an individual who develops in his or her own way. Building meaningful relationships between teacher and child, and among the children, is central to the work we do.

Report
MCNS is founded on the philosophy that children naturally use play as a vehicle for learning. Our programs are based on The Creative Curriculum, which rests firmly on a foundation of early childhood education research. We believe that children are curious individuals who develop in their own way. We understand that children use play to acquire the social-emotional skills that will serve as the foundation for future academic success.
2-year-old Programs
Report
The Toddler program is a wonderful place to begin your child's first school experience. Our play-based philosophy is carried out by loving teachers who will gently guide your child through the separation process. The student-teacher ratio is at least 4:1, and each class has a head teacher and an assistant teacher.
