About
Report
FCS students are asked big questions about the world around them and given the space, resources, and time to pursue solutions--and even more questions. Now in our fourth decade, FCS is a thriving school that guides young children through adolescence. At FCS, students are respected, childhood is celebrated, and learning is experiential.
History
Report
FCS was founded in 1986 by members of Adelphi Friends Meeting. The school was originally housed on the grounds of the Meetinghouse on Metzerott Road. The School Committee envisioned a K-6 elementary school and hired Jane Manring, a Quaker and noted progressive educator, to lead the school in its early years.
What We Do
Report
As a progressive school, FCS focuses on educating the whole child: socially, emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, creatively, and physically. Students are supported in a multitude of ways in their learning journey from mastery of basic skills to higher-order thinking. Curricula and instruction are informed by current thinking and research in education as well as the vast experience of our faculty and staff.
