Traditional Shorin Ryu (Sho-Rin-Re-U) Karate is considered the to be one of the oldest styles of Karate, and serves as the foundation for most modern karate practiced in the world today. At NRK Karate, we teach this traditional style of karate directly from birthplace in Okinawa, Japan. NRK Karate teaches traditional Ryukyu Kobudo (ancient Okinawan Weaponry) as a part of our standard training program.

Sensei Lew McFarland is a Second Degree Black Belt in Shorin Ryu Karate, and a Brown Belt in Ryukyu Kobuo (Ancient Weaponry). He began his training with Shihan McCammon in 2012. He decided to start training a year after watching his kids train with Shihan McCammon and thinking that karate training may be good exercise for him.
Sensei Steve

Sensei Steve Patterson began his training with Renshi McCammon in 2010. He has been Renshi McCammon's right hand man and private student for that entire time. Initially, he was reluctant to begin his training, worrying that he was "too old" to begin the journey, but after constant, and somewhat relentless, encouragement from Renshi he decided to give Karate a shot and join the class.

NRK Karate is a proud member of the Okinawa Shorin-Ryu Kiyobukan Kyokai. The Shorin-ryu Kiyobukan was founded by the late Hanshi (Grandmaster - 10th Degree Black Belt) Seiei Nakaza to preserve the rich tradition that is Shorin-Ryu Karate.
Hanshi Nakaza, widely hailed as one of the most senior practitioners of Kobayashi Shorin-Ryuof his generation, believed that the practice of Karate should be pure and holistic impacting all aspects of the practitioners life.

Fifty percent play, fifty percent discipline, the Pee Wee Dragons class is design to develop the mind and bodies of students ages 3.5 - 5.5 years old. Classes are held every Saturday, but the fun just keeps going and going! Our basic programs offer training opportunities up to 3 (three) days per week.
