Kadampa Meditation Center New York City
Buddha's most profound insight into the nature of the mind remains as revolutionary in our modern world as it was 2500 years ago: the mind is the source of all happiness and suffering. All of it. At KMC NYC, this is what we learn - in a very practical way. So that through meditation, we can cultivate authentic happiness, and actualize our greatest potential, and help others do the same.

We do not discriminate based on race, gender, background, age, religion, politics, sexual orientation, or otherwise - everyone is always welcome at KMC NYC and other Kadampa Centers around the world. Everyone is welcome to attend any of the 20+ drop-in classes offered each week, in-person ans online.

About Us
Report
Kadampa Meditation Center New York City exists to provide everybody in the New York area with the opportunity to learn about and practice Buddha's teachings. To fulfill this aim we have created a peaceful city sanctuary located in the heart of Chelsea. Based on the books of the modern day Buddhist teacher, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, we present Buddha's teachings in an accessible manner that can easily be integrated into busy modern life.

Meditation & Teaching Classes
Report
The General Program (GP) classes are drop-in classes, suitable for beginners as well as those with an established meditation practice. Each class includes a teaching and meditation based on Buddha's Sutra and/or Tantra teachings. Through these classes we can learn how to use Buddha's advice in our own lives to solve all our daily problems and find the peace and happiness we seek.
Mondays, 7:00 - 8:30pm
Report
Happiness and suffering are merely states of mind. So if we are to experience the happiness we all long for we must learn to how to connect with that state of mind and not the ones that causes us so much pain. Part of this process entails identifying our negative patterns of thought so that we can begin to learn to let them go.
Tuesday evening general program
Report
We could all use a reality check now and then. In this class, we examine the specific issues that we're dealing with in our daily lives and then begin working on how to fix them. Through teachings, meditations and discussions, each class helps us to sharpen the tools we need for becoming more mindful of what exactly is going on both around us and within us.
