Gerstell is defined as, "The art of positively influencing others to unite in a common direction and guiding them to improve themselves and their community." Gerstell is the ability to act in the face of fear. Not to be fearless, but to learn how to demonstrate both physical and moral courage in the face of adversity.
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in the Middle School, students approached a virtual Nearpod field trip with passion in order to learn more about Portrait Leader, Cesar Chavez. Sophomore Bode Yelland discusses his Eagle Scout project and why he wanted to complete it on our campus. Gerstell's Middle School History teacher, Alan Gibson, has quite a diverse educational and career background.

When I was a young parent I used to dream about the great things my children might someday accomplish. I then set out to find a school that not only had a strong academic curriculum but also a school that placed emphasis on social skills, manners, fitness for life, and most importantly, leadership development.

Gerstell Academy is a private, co-educational, independent, not for profit, pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade leadership school governed by a Board of Trustees.

Gerstell Academy was established in 1996 by Dr. Frederick G. Smith. His vision is to maintain a school where students have the opportunity to develop into leaders when placed in a structured, caring environment based on the Gerstell Academy Leadership Principles and Attributes. At Gerstell Academy, our student's potential to become leaders, to learn, to grow morally, to be physically fit is maximized.

Governance at Gerstell Academy originates with the Board of Trustees. They work in collaboration with the President, who leads the day-to-day operations of the school. The President, along with the faculty focuses primarily on matters related to the student experience.
While each group has its own responsibilities, they work together informed by a collaborative spirit and a shared commitment to the leadership and educational mission brought to life by the vision and commitment of our Founder.
