The Founder

Before founding Bootstrap Tutors, Dr. Ryan Judkins spent six years teaching at The Ohio State University, where he earned his doctorate in English, and then another three at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. After nine years as an English professor and five as a private tutor, he founded Bootstrap in the winter of 2014.
Philosophy

Often, teachers and professors don't have time to help students individually, but we've built our business on the belief that there is no substitute for one-on-one learning. We don't take shortcuts, because shortcuts don't work. No "tips" or "tricks" will help you excel if you don't truly understand the material from its core concepts up.
Academic Tutoring

A dedicated teacher devoted to your success, one who has passed a CORI background check and completed our in-house training. Our typical tutor is a professional with an advanced degree and significant teaching experience. Many are teachers and professors during their day jobs who simply enjoy working 1-on-1 with students.
Summer SAT Class with PhD Tutors

Following on the success of our course last summer, we will once again be offering a small-group online prep course leading up to the August SAT! The course offers an amazing 80% discount over our private tutoring options. To make sure you get the best of both worlds, we're also offering some optional 1-on-1 sessions at a discount.
College Admissions

Unlike other companies, we offer a comprehensive admissions package that includes not only college-choice strategizing and consulting but also test-prep tutoring and admissions-essay coaching. Our goal is to offer you an easy, completely inclusive option for college-admissions success. Consulting lasts for twelve months, usually from the spring of junior year through admissions decisions in the early spring of senior year.
