Sweet Cakes has been open since December of 2008. Head baker since 2009, Hilary Ricci and her husband Gary purchased the bakery in 2014. They jumped at the chance to continue the quality and imagination of this neighborhood bakery. Everyday our talented bakers and decorators prepare a wide variety of sweets, which include unique cupcakes, dessert bars, cake pops with gluten free, egg free and dairy free options.

Our wedding cake from Sweet Cakes was the best cake that either of us has ever had! It was delicious and incredible. We highly recommend Sweet Cakes for weddings and special occasions. Dena (the owner) is so very thoughtful and kind and she worked patiently with us as we decided the quantities and kinds of desserts that we wanted to serve. We ended up ordering a small cutting cake for ourselves and a variety of cupcakes and dessert bars for our guests. The desserts were amazing and our dessert table looked so elegant. Dena did a phenomenal job! She showed up and set up our entire dessert table

I rarely post any reviews, but want to give 5 stars to Sweet Cakes bakery for their amazing desserts, friendly atmosphere, and a big variety of desserts (including gluten-free and vegan)!
Recently I tried holiday breads (pumpkin, cranberry-orange, and banana) and all of them were amazing - not too sweet (which is very important for me), moist, with beautiful flavors and textures! My absolutely favorite was a pumpkin bread and I highly recommend you to try this one!
All employees of Sweet Cakes are very positive and friendly; and I am very impressed by fresh flowers in the bakery and beautiful

I got the feeling that the staff were not invested in the customer experience at all. We asked about the menu on the wall and it was like pulling teeth to get a response that was more than one syllable. Finally someone in the back said their menu wasn’t accurate (which is also a mystery since you can always tape over items that you don’t plan to sell).
We never did get a good answer about the whoopie pies. Does anyone know what we have to do to get one? Are they only made during certain times? Have they been canceled? Why is it so weird to ask this question??

Tried this place twice before posting this review. Felt the desserts were decent!! Ordered different desserts the each time - Red velvet cupcake felt way too chewy and fake. Caramel brownie was decent but was toooooo sugary so the taste was all about sugar than any flavors, Chocolate tart was flavorless and same goes for chocolate cupcake. There are much better places to have a good dessert. Even Starbucks will be better than this one!! Wanted to really like the place.

My wife has been trying to order our daughter a cake for her first birthday from this bakery. She called them in August to confirm their dairy free options (our daughter has a severe dairy and soy allergy), and then sent them a request through their website. They said all they needed was two weeks notice. Last week on the 15th she finally decided on what she wanted the cake to look like, sent them a detailed email with photos of similar designs to go off of (a one tiered 8in, dairy free vanilla or chocolate cake with light pink fondant in a cushion design) to be done by October 2nd. I am at a complete loss for words at how amazing these folks are! They made my a gem wedding cake for us and it was literally the prettiest cake I have ever seen!
I did several cake tastings but Dena and her team were the best to work with!
From the presentation of her cake tasting to the warmth and kindness in her approach! I knew instantly that she was the one I wanted to work with! I had gone to so many cake tastings but no one was as personable and kind as Dena was!
From the taste, to the presentation, to the personal touch by giving us a cake stand to use! Sweet

I just called into ask about cakes and the answer was "We don't have any cakes and we don't know when we'll have them."
I need a cake for an upcoming event and this isn't urgent but apparently - indefinitely- they won't have cake.
Amazing.
Me: Ok. When will you have cakes?
Sweet Cakes: It's fairly hot and we won't have any.
Me: ?? When will you have cakes?
Sweet Cakes: We won't have any cakes.
It's laughable what the difference between that answer and literally any date in the future means for communication.

So lovely! We showed up just a minute or two after opening, if that, and the person at the counter was incredibly patient and showed us everything. So many gf options, some vegan, dairy free, and regular. I had the raspberry oat bar and it was amazing! My fiancee mentioned it was my birthday and they just gave us a candle. Such a wonderful way to start my day.

My new love! I have been twice since the new owner took over after Valentine's Day and everything I have tried has been wonderful...the snicker doodle cheesecake was so yummy, and the chocolate raspberry cake was to die for, but the chocolate tarts and the lemon tarts with their perfectly formed crusts are what I now dream of. I can't wait to go there again!

Sweet Cakes is under new ownership, so we were excited to pay a visit and indulge our sweet tooth. We were not disappointed. On our first visit, we tried the white chocolate raspberry scones, which reminded me of scones I've eaten in England -- with a tender crumb and not overly sweet. We particularly enjoyed the fresh raspberry filling, a nice change-up from jam; so, so good.

Ordered our wedding cake from here and the cake was literally the best cake we've ever eaten. We had a coconut cake, with strawberry filling and buttercream frosting.
They sent us home with the test kit prior to the wedding, all of the combos were amazing but the coconut/strawberry/buttercream combo was the best.
All of our friends and family loved the cake as well, they described it as a strawberry pop tart
We live in Tennessee now but when we visit we will definitely be visiting for some cake!
We highly recommend this place for quality dessert and service.

I am so disappointed in what has become of Sweet Cakes. We literally LOVED this place for years! We got cupcakes and cakes from them since the beginning for very birthday and special event. Even after we moved out of state, Sweet Cakes was always our first stop when we would come back in to town. Bragged about them and recommended them to everyone we knew- even in other states! This year, something changed. The last few times we have visited and stopped in, our cupcakes have been dry and grainy. The snickerdoodle literally has been like sand the last two times we were there. In September

I contacted Sweet Cakes yesterday and the person who answered the phone was amazing. I had an extremely unreasonable request. I needed a white cake with strawberry frosting within five hours for a birthday event. Understandably, none of the other bakeries in the area were able to accommodate me. I had never heard of Sweet Cakes but thought I would give it a shot. The person who answered was very nice and agreed to fill the order by 4pm. I was shocked. Not only was the cake done in time, it was beautiful (round cake, with light pink frosting and white pearls) and unbelievable tasty. Everyone

I adore this little shop. I discovered their far above average gluten free treats years ago and was so impressed that we used them for our wedding. Even our non-gluten free friends and family were going for these over the cake. The coconut cupcakes and all of the bars are my favorites.

I went in and purchased four different cupcakes and a peanut butter chocolate bar. The appearance was good but each cupcake was tough, dry and tasteless. There was a lot of sugar in them to mask the fact that they had a very bland flavor. Even the raspberry on top of the lemon cupcake was mushy and old. If you're specializing in cupcakes and sweet treats, they should be phenomenal tasting. These were some of the worst cupcakes I've ever eaten.

I've been coming to this bakery since I discovered it last year. I love their cupcakes and although the establishment is rather tight inside for space, it's cute and I think it's a perfect fit in Kirkland. However, I was very disappointed with my service when I recently placed an order for a custom cake. The employee told me to expect a phone call when the cake was ready for pick-up but the call never happened. I tried calling the business myself around 4 in the afternoon but no one picked up. I assumed the cake wasn't ready, possibly due to weather or staffing issues. Instead

They have a very nice cake catalogue, and they rarely have cakes ready to go. So remember to order your cakes in advance, at least 3 days. They're very kind and will guide you through your best cake choice.

The one time I didn't check the yelp reviews before walking into an establishment... and I wish I did! Came in here one afternoon and the place was empty, one would think that would leave to some great customer service and suggestions but that was not the case. Was looking for an assortment of treats and was not impressed. Ordered some thumbprint cookies, a few bars, cannoli and a cupcake. Although.... the s'mores bar was pretty tasty! So if you go then I recommend that or a cannoli.

I was walking around Kirkland with my friend and we saw a shop window filled with delicious cakes. We went in just to look around and saw the displays filled with delicious treats. I took a closer look and saw that almost all of the baked goods were gluten free! I'm gluten free and it was like walking into heaven. My friend and I decided to get cupcakes, she got double chocolate and I got white on white. They were the best cupcakes I have ever had. This is my new favorite bakery.
