Zoigl is inherently about supporting and celebrating with community. With that in mind, we set out to create a unique experience in Southeast Portland where everyone in the community can gather, relax, and enjoy themselves over great beer! Of all the Pilsner substyles, the one brewed in Northern Germany is the driest and crispest with a great hop character.
Brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516, we use German malts, hops and yeast. Herkules and Herbrucker hops provide the spicy and snappy flavor. German malts provide the light breadiness while German hops give this beer a light spicy flavoring. The bavarian Hefeweizen yeast strain provides the rest; banana ester with a light phenolic clove note.

Zoigl brewing began in the Middle Ages in several small towns in what we now know as Germany. It's a wonderful historical practice where citizens share a communal brewhouse, then take turns serving their brew to their neighbors from the comfort of their own homes. You can still experience the Zoigl tradition in five tiny towns in Bavaria.

Of all the Pilsner substyles, the one brewed in Northern Germany is the driest and crispest with a great hop character. Hop-forward, spicy, herbal and citrus aromas from the German hops meld with the clean backbone of German malts and yeast. Brewed just like in Cologne: German Pilsner and Wheat Malts, German Magnum hops for bittering, Hallertauer hops for aroma and a spicy note.
