Larry Martin has lived in his rent-controlled Castro apartment for 38 years. While recovering at home from cancer treatment and heart surgery, Larry fell asleep with a running sink that overflowed and required the landlord to clean up. His landlord immediately sued to evict him. If successful, the landlord could increase rent by over 500% and Larry would be homeless.
