Welcome to Mile End Deli - Brooklyn's Premier Montreal-Style Deli
Mile End Deli was founded in 2010 with a clear mission: to honor the legacy of our grandmothers' cooking while introducing Montreal-style cuisine to New York. Our Brooklyn restaurant combines traditional Jewish delicatessen elements with Canadian culinary influences, creating a unique dining experience rooted in heritage and innovation. We specialize in Montreal-style smoked meat sandwiches, homemade hotdogs with tangy kraut, poutine, and fresh whitefish salad, all crafted using time-honored recipes updated with fresh, scratch-made techniques. Our menu extends beyond classic dishes to explore global flavors, offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and artisanal sweet treats. Located at the intersection of Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, and Carroll Gardens, we serve Downtown Brooklyn with a commitment to quality and authenticity.

Co-founder Joel Tietolman, inspired by his Montreal upbringing, leads our team in preserving Jewish food traditions while embracing modern culinary creativity. We extend our hospitality through catering services, private events, and nationwide shipping via Goldbelly, ensuring our flavors reach beyond our physical location. Our loyalty program rewards regular guests, reinforcing our dedication to community. As a Brooklyn institution, we remain steadfast in our mission to share the comfort of Jewish and Canadian cuisine with every customer.

I love deli's so was excited to try this place. I did not like the smoked meat sandwich. There was a lot of fat in my sandwich and the meat was too thick for my taste but others love it so it depends on your preference. We also got the Eli Reuben which I liked better. I took the thick fatty meat out (that was also in the smoked meat sandwich) and enjoyed the rest of it. Next time I'll just get a Reuben. Also, I thought this delicatessen would definitely have great soups given price and location. Theyve got to work on their food just tasting better. Broth smells of beef bone broth and no simmering at all. Additionally, waited outside in the cold while I had to ask for them to just give me the soup cold bc no one was in the kitchen. Quite good Jewish Montreal fare (a lot of which is similar to NY Jewish fare). Definitely a great neighborhood staple.

Latkes: thick, flavorful, good.
Kugel: non-traditional as it's cheesey, but tastes good. Chocolate babka: Hard, served cold so maybe I'd like it more warmed up? I asked if they could warm it, told no.
