When visiting Napa Valley you have roughly 400 options for wine tasting, but only at Pope Valley Winery will you get a truly authentic wine country experience. Most visitors to the valley will follow the rest of the traffic down Hwy 29, pick tasting rooms at whim and fight for a spot and attention at one bar after another.
But if you aren't most people, and you're not in a hurry, take the scenic route up into the surrounding hills and stop at our quiet, unpretentious and historic winery. Don't forget to pack a lunch to enjoy with good friends and premium, limited-production wines. Relax under the sun and intimately between the vines at our picnic tables.

About Us
Report
The Pope Valley Winery was founded in 1897 by Ed Haus as Burgundy Winery & Olive Oil Factory. A century later in 1997, the Eakle family purchased the historic winery and gave it a new life as Pope Valley Winery. In 2009 the next generation of Eakles stepped in to continue building and furthering the family's vision for Pope Valley Winery as a fine winemaking establishment.

Our Reserve Sauvignon Blanc is a tribute to what is arguably the best grape in Pope Valley. The fruit was hand-harvested early in the morning and brought to the winery at a modest 22 Brix. A beautiful blend of 81% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Malbec all from the estate.
Your nose is greeted with aromas of mint, plum, and a hint of tobacco while the palate is juicy with red currant and brier flavors, supple tannins, a long, silky finish, and a graphite backbone.Pope Valley is a warm growing climate with cool evenings and mornings which allow the grapes to hang on the vine long enough to ripen to their fullest potential yet cool enough at night to develop complex varietal aromas.

We are proud to produce wines made not only from grapes grown in our Estate vineyard but from family owned vineyards here in Pope Valley. Below are our different vineyards. Our winery vineyards are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and a small lot of dry-farmed Zinfandel that borders our outdoor guest tasting area.
