Growing up on the water in Sarasota, Florida John Sahagian was fishing by the time he could walk. After a first trip to Big Pine Key in 1974 to attend New Found Harbor Marine Institute, John spent every Summer break fishing and diving the waters of the Florida Keys. After spending most of his early summers fishing and diving he decided to make a career out of diving.

Offshore fishing starts about five miles off the coast where the reef comes to an end in about 100 feet of indigo water and where the Gulf Stream begins.
Reef & Wreck Fishing

Bottom fishing as it is called covers a large variety of environments. Some deeper wrecks are in over three hundred feet of water and then there are patch reefs that are within a few feet of the surface. Bottom fishing spots vary in location from several miles outside the reef line on the Atlantic side of the Keys to Gulf side channels and patch reefs.

True deep sea fishing as it is called covers a large variety of environments. Some deeper wrecks can be found in water from 170 to over 420 feet of water. Bottom fishing spots vary in location from several miles outside the reef line on the Atlantic side of the Keys to to well over twenty miles out.
