When the wines were good they pleased my senses, cheered my spirits, improved my moral and intellectual powers, besides enabling me to confer the same benefits on other people. Per CDC guidelines, we are following all appropriate social distancing and sanitation procedures. Since our staff is completely vaccinated, and all our tastings are outdoors, masks are no longer required.
Our tables have been booking up (especially on the weekends) and we encourage you to make reservations well in advance of your visit. Saintsbury Winery was founded by Richard Ward and David Graves in 1981. Incidentally they both met during their graduate studies in Enology at UC Davis while taking a brewing class together and is where they made their first non commercial wine (a Santa Barbara grown barrel fermented Riesling).
Fate sometimes works its magic - David had a biology degree from UC Santa Cruz and Richard had an engineering degree and both were pursuing careers in the wine industry.David Graves and Richard Ward, both UC Davis graduate students at the time, met in brewing class. David and Dick are housemates working the Napa Valley harvest at Chappellet and Stag's Leap Wine Cellars.

Each requires a minimum of 5 participants and will be shipped directly to each of you in time for us to gather together on Zoom.

Ever since our inception in 1981, one of the prime edicts in our philosophy has been to shine a light on growers who produce exceptional fruit. Without the specific knowledge of their land, and their tireless hard work, the wines we seek to create simply aren't possible. Winemaking at its best is a synergy of the land, the vine, weather, and people.
