Authentic Japanese Martial Arts Training in Irvine
Butokuden was established with a clear mission to serve as a cultural bridge between Japanese traditions and the Southern California community. Our organization offers comprehensive instruction in traditional Japanese martial arts including Kendo, Karate, Aikido, Naginata, and Jodo, while also preserving cultural practices like Sogetsuryu Ikebana and Bushido philosophy. With over 20 years of combined experience from our lead instructors, many of whom trained directly in Japan, we maintain rigorous standards of authenticity in both technique and cultural context. Our programs emphasize character development alongside physical training, reflecting the core values of Bushido that have shaped Japanese culture for centuries.Through regular classes, seminars, and community events, we've become a recognized center for Japanese cultural education in Southern California. Students of all ages and skill levels benefit from our structured curriculum that balances technical proficiency with historical understanding. Our dojo serves as both a training facility and cultural hub where participants learn proper etiquette, terminology, and the philosophical principles underlying each discipline. We maintain active partnerships with international martial arts organizations to ensure our practices remain aligned with global standards while remaining accessible to local communities.

Report
Very Clean and fantastic instructors. My kids have attended and observed many other dojo and by far this place teaches the kids and adults self-respect. Being respectful of others. Its very upsetting to see an assistant student teaching Woodbury taekwondo and find out that this same student bullies fellow students at his school.
