S J Kim's Taekwon-Do
Taekwondo, as a sport and art, gives so much to those who accept its physical and psychological challenges and submit to the rigors required to achieve expertise.

While some will become highly proficient in defending themselves, and others will go on to represent their country in the Olympic Games, all students of Taekwondo improve themselves physically and mentally, while learning the lessons of courage, humility, discipline, self-esteem, and ethical conduct. There is no group for whom these lessons are more important than our children.

Below you can find a more detailed list of the highlights of the development of martial arts on the Korean peninsula from ancient times until the present. As you will see, Taekwon-do is not a martial art that was developed by one single person, nor can it be traced back to any one individual.

Instead, Taekwon-do is a discipline that has scientifically developed into a system of various theories, terminologies, techniques, methods, rules and spiritual foundations. As a result, the discipline, or the Way, can be constantly improved upon by its practitioners and master instructors.

Taekwondo is an unarmed Korean martial art that is not only a way of kicking and punching, but also a way of thinking and living. While we teach and practice very effective and powerful kicking and punching techniques to help our students develop their physical technique and skills, we also emphasize the virtues of acting with wisdom, compassion and courage in all aspects of Taekwondo practice and life.

This location has closed. I went to their website. There is no other address listed. What a shame. Mr Kim was an excellent person to learn from. Hopefully he'll re-open.

Started coming last fall shortly after this location opened. I had previously trained in taekwondo for 7-8 years in St. Louis, and then for one year at Jae H. Kim's school in Boston, so it was important to me that I find an instructor who had a lot of experience and really understood traditional taekwondo.

Master Kim is the real deal. He is personally teaching all the classes (except for the rare occasions when he is teaching a master class elsewhere.) He's one of the OG Korean instructors who understands the art, the reasons for why moves are a certain way, and is really good at

SJKim is one of the few grandmasters of taekwondo. He is an incredible teacher and knows so much about taekwondo. He can teach you better than anywhere else, even if it is more difficult.

I originally started TKD only because there was a month-long promotion on LivingSocial. I never had plans to stick with Taekwon-Do past the month. Looking back, I am so glad I found this gem of a school.
I've been going to SJ Kim's TKD for almost 3 years now, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would especially recommend this school to people who are interested in martial arts, but have no prior experience. Some schools may have an unwelcoming atmosphere which can be intimidating, but here everyone seems determined to help others improve.
The best feature of the school is that many

I was very impressed with this place! I discovered it via Living Social and purchased a one month deal of unlimited classes. From what I've heard, it's not common to walk into a dojo and have the owner/master there. He was so welcoming and was even kind enough to help me get my gi(uniform) situated properly. Knowing that I'm brand new, he worked with me on the side and suggested that I come in 30 minutes early the following day so that he can get me up to speed; wow! The class dynamic was great and the students were also welcoming. This was such a positive experience and I highly
