Joe's work is amazing - he really knows how to use light to create beautiful photographs that are like works of art! We received an astonishing number of photos: a good mix of color and b&w, and posed as well as many excellent candid shots. The payment process and the downloading of our images was easy and professional.
Joe was a delight to work with - he was very communicative during the planning process and respectful of the wedding party's time during the actual event. Our venue was in Virginia, so a bit outside of his normal Raleigh area. Without me requesting it, he actually drove up to our venue a few weeks beforehand, to scope out the site!

When I was a kid, I used to put on plays in my grandparents living room with my cousins using blankets and whatever we could find in the room as props (I was really cool, picture straight cut across the forehead THICK bangs). I wanted to be a writer, and then as time went on a nurse. My grandmother bought me my first typewriter and coincidentally, my first camera growing up and has always encouraged my creative spirit.

And if I make a judgement it can only be on a psychological or sociological level. There are those that take photographs arranged beforehand and those who go out to discover the image and seize it. For me the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity, the master of the instant which, in visual terms, questions and decides simultaneously.

Whilst planning your wedding photography is something I take total ownership and care of, I find it's often helpful for my couples to have an idea of what to anticipate at certain parts of the wedding day. When you're getting ready, as with all photography, light is really the key to everything.
I really do prefer to use available light whenever I can as I prefer the look of a naturally lit scene rather than artificially creating light using flash.I also find flash makes people more aware of the fact they are bring photographed which makes the whole idea of photojournalistic or 'candid' photography go out the window.

Engagement sessions are a brilliant way for us to relax, get to know each other and have some fun ahead of the wedding day. We normally meet up for a drink or two and a chat before going out for a walk together.
I work with each couple's individual personalities and styles to provide help with some basic posing to help make you look your best and provide a good variety of images, but these sessions are more about you two being together and having some fun.
