Metis Counseling is an outpatient counseling practice, serving individuals from ages three through adulthood. Founded by licensed professional counselors Melissa Wright and Nicole Rich, Metis Counseling provides play therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy to Kansas City's Northland and beyond.
Most of our counselors now offer the choice to do office appointments or telehealth. Feel free to check in with your scheduled counselor if you are interested in doing telehealth and they will send you a link to login at the time of your appointment. The name "Metis" is derived from Greek mythology, where Metis was said to be the goddess of good counsel, advice, planning, and wisdom. This is my 11th year providing individual, family, and play therapy at Metis Counseling. I worked for Healthy Families Counseling and Support as an outpatient therapist, supervisor, and in-home therapist for 10 years.

Counseling services are provided to children ages 3 and up, adolescents, adults and families. Anxiety: Explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors that contribute to the symptoms of anxiety and work to manage or eliminate them. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: Process the effects of the traumatic experience through trauma focused therapy (TF-CBT).
Insurance & Payment

Insurance companies typically reimburse providers for the mental health issues they deem as necessary. Insurance companies determine the number of sessions and length of treatment due to managed care. Typically, insurance will only authorize a pre-determined number of sessions. Client and clinician determine the length and frequency of treatment based upon preference and needs.
