The agency assumed its present name in 1912, under the partnership of W. Bruner Smith and Daniel W. Gans. There have been no name changes, since, though several partners have come and gone during this time. Ownership of the agency at the present time is vested in four corporate principals. We may be over 100 years old, but we're definitely not living in the past - we are looking to the future with great anticipation.

David, a native of Longview joined Gans & Smith in 1985 after starting his career as a claims adjuster with Sentry Insurance. David's background in claims and understanding his clients' needs made him a successful agent. He was named a Partner and Vice President at Gans & Smith in 1988 and President in 2012.
