Society Hill Veterinary Hospital is a full-service, modern animal hospital dedicated to providing pet owners of Philadelphia with access to the best that modern veterinary care has to offer. Our hospital has been located on the corner of Second and Lombard Streets since 1969 and owned by Claudia L. Casavecchia, DVM, since 2002.
In 2010, the facility was completely renovated in order to better serve our patients and clients as well as to support our doctors with cutting edge technologies and resources. These include enhanced inpatient and outpatient treatment areas, state-of-the-art surgery and dental care suites, and a well-equipped intensive care unit for critically ill patients.

Hospital Administrators
Report
Unlike most, I got my calling to work with animals later in life. Before joining the SHVH Team, my work history was in retail management, where I developed so much knowledge in customer service. Although I loved working with people and have a passion for fashion, I didn't feel like my job was rewarding enough.
Veterinary Technicians & Patient Care Assistants
Report
I grew up in a family that also worked in the field and developed a deep-rooted passion for helping and caring for animals. My end goal is to become a CVT so I can better be able to help animals. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Neumann College in 2009 and graduated from Manor College with an Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology in 2013.
Client Service Team
Report
Of course my love for animals is what drew me to this profession over 25 years ago. I always felt that I needed to be their voice. You will never find a more real love than the love of animals. I started working for the hospital in 1993, and after visiting and volunteering at other clinics, I realized how great Society Hill was.
The Millennia Fund
Report
The Millennia Fund was established in the Fall of 1999 when an 8 week old Bichon Frise puppy, owned by a local pet store for holiday sales, presented to our hospital in a coma. Our team of doctors and technicians fought hard to revive her after she went into cardiac arrest from her Parvovirus induced hypoglycemia.
