I am a contributing editor at Outdoor Photographer magazine who has worked as a freelance photographer, writer, and photo instructor for over 40 years. More than 2,000 of my photos have been published, including 87 covers, and I have sold over 10,000 prints. I've also written over 225 magazine articles and 12 books.

I've been teaching my students how to make their own great landscape images since 2002. The images, stories, and articles on this website are the fruits of that labor. All of the images in the nine portfolios below are available as prints in a variety of sizes and presentations. Sizes range from 11x14 to 24x36; larger sizes, up to 40x50, are available by special order. Available presentations include loose (not mounted, matted, or framed), high-gloss metal print, gallery float, and gallery-wrap canvas print.

I believe that authenticity still matters. Or, to put it more precisely, I believe a landscape photograph can only have lasting impact if it is an authentic record of a truly memorable event. Authenticity is at the core of my artistic philosophy. I think we value landscape photographs primarily because they allow us to vicariously experience the wonder and joy that the photographer felt when they were standing there.
