Organic Herbs & Herbal Remedies in New Orleans
Miss Annes Maypop Herb Shop was founded in 2011 by a collective of herbalists as the first herb shop to open in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Located on St. Claude Avenue in the Bywater neighborhood, we have become an essential community resource for plant-based healthcare solutions since the pandemic. Our shop offers over 180 bulk herbs, spices, tea blends, and herbal extracts, with formulations developed through community needs and Indigenous herbalist traditions. Anne White Hat, a Sicangu Lakota herbalist with 25+ years of experience, acquired the shop in 2022 to expand access to high-quality, affordable herbal medicines. Our team includes certified herbalists trained in clinical and community herbalism, with expertise in creating culturally sensitive formulations for modern health challenges. We prioritize organic and sustainably sourced materials, featuring handmade products from local and trusted small makers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we coordinated mutual aid efforts to distribute herbal care packages nationwide through variant surges. Our commitment to accessible medicine includes partnerships with Indigenous-led initiatives and educational programs for lifelong plant relationships. The shop remains a hub for both traditional and innovative herbal practices along the Gulf South Medicine Trail. Our mission combines healing, social change, and preservation of Indigenous herbal knowledge for future generations.

LOreal was so amazing!! Such a great energy and made our first visit a memorable one. Honestly was the highlight of my day when I went in Friday. Helpful and educated us on the herbs. The space itself is on the smaller size, but filled with a huge variety of herbs, tinctures, teas, and locally made products and art. They have books as well centered on plants and herbs. Im local and cant believe I took this long to stop by. Will be coming back!!

My first herb shop experience was amazing. Laurielle (I'm probably spelling that incorrectly, please forgive me!) was so helpful and knowledgeable and we had an amazing conversation about herbs, life and family. She told me I'm going to become addicted and I think she's right! I'll be going back soon for sure

They are absolutely wonderful. They have a broad selection and great prices. They have a very knowledgeable staff who is very kind and helpful. I have frequented here for about 4 years. This is the first time I've left a review but every interaction I have had has been the same.

What a gem! I shall return. It was the only place I could find calendula oil without having to order online. I'll be sure to get the rest of my oil from here from now on. Support exceptional local businesses!

I had a great time here, my ignorance to this little herbal shop on the corner was very upsetting. I had no idea they were there. I have been long suffering with thyroid issues and I recently decided to do a little research on some homeopathic treatments, because surgery is the last step for me, so I researched an item I had no idea where to get it. And low and behold I walk into this place and there it is on the top shelf. The lady working was so helpful, however, you have so many questions and she's just one little lady, and then in comes the crowd, and you have to share "sighs." Anywho this

Great stop. I just needed milk thistle but most of the herbs here I had never even seen or sometimes heard of before.
