Saint Mary's Nursery School thanks our ongoing in-kind sponsor, the University City Review for the coverage of our 2019 Arts & Pre-K Excellence Award, chosen by Greater Philadelphia Cultural Allicance in a competitive grant process and funded by PECO. Saint Mary's Nursery School is honored to be recognized as a Pre-K Provider for our work in arts and culture with the 2019 Arts & Pre-K Excellence Award.

Saint Mary's Nursery School is a non-profit cooperative early years education center, founded in 1964. We provide day care for children from 18 months to 5 years. We also have after school and summer programing for children in Kindergarten through fifth grade. While we share the centrally located Saint Mary's Episcopal Church building, we are not associated with the Church.
Toddler and Preschool Program
Report
Our toddler and mixed-age preschool classrooms develop social, cognitive, and physical skills while focusing on the exploration of open ended monthly themesover the course of the year. Example themes include: Me, My City, Seasons, and Celebrations. Teachers create opportunities for children to explore and learn in through painting, drawing, mixed media art, nature walks, gross motor play, song and story time, sensory play, and learning stations.
Pre-K Program

SMNS is so proud of its unique and sophisticated Pre-K program, which honors our focus on the arts and process-oriented learning while addressing the Kindergarten readiness needs of our children and families.
Our program develops the academic and pre-academic skills of our children through a classroom experience designed to mimic and introduce the kindergarten classroom experience in content and expectation while ensuring enough flexibility to accommodate all the skill levels of its students.We work with the children to broaden the literacy skill building started in early years at SMNS.

School Age Program
Report
The school-age After School Program is open to SMNS graduates & other community members up to the fifth grade. We provide snack, homework help, art and varied activities and free play each day from 3-6pm. The After School children are separated from the early education classrooms. Their play is significantly different and they need the time and space to work on their own cognitive, emotional and physical development.
