A good friend of mine (Paul Cummins) told me about Blue Bear and the incredible work they've been doing. I jumped at the chance to celebrate their 50th anniversary by jamming some Bowie with their teen all-star band. So fun. What an honor. They've been teaching kids to rock since 1971! I love Blue Bear.the original school of rock!

As a nonprofit, Blue Bear also offers outreach programs that serve at-risk youth in a number of San Francisco neighborhoods. Little Bears, for kiddos 4 months to 5 years, celebrates Fall by rolling out new classes in the parks.

Nonprofit organization Blue Bear School of Music was founded as "Blue Bear Waltzes School of Genuine Music" in the summer of 1971 by a rock band called "Wolfgang & Strauss" - "Wolfgang" was a dog, and "Strauss, " two brothers in the band. Before moving to San Francisco to make their fame and fortune (and to found a music school), they lived in Northern California on the Bear River.

Do you offer Onsite Preschool classes, or host company-specific Little Bears classes (ie: Online Little Bears & Bring Your Kids to Work Days)? Private lessons offer the chance for a more tailored approach to learning. You have more control over the musical direction, you'll proceed at your own pace, and you have the flexibility to cancel with advance notice if you're not going to be around any given week.

Rock out with Blue Bear! Choose from a variety of in-person and online music classes for all skill levels. We offer classes for guitar, ukulele, bass, and voice, plus songwriting, DJing, and electronic music. Join a band, rehearse, then gig! You'll perform material from a range of artists and bands across many music genres including Rock, R&B, Jazz, and Blues.

Families bring their own blankets and instruments and make music, together. We have Fall quarter classes in the following parks: Golden Gate Park (near Stow Lake), Great Meadow Park (Fort Mason), Little Marina Green (across the street from Palace of Fine Arts), St. Mary's Rec Center, Douglass Park, Noe Courts (the field just north of the courts), Argonne Elementary, and the Panhandle Picnic Area.
