The food wasn't bad but maybe I had better expectations considering Gringo's had the reputation of having great fish tacos. Also, they ran out of the habanero lime sauce which was a disappointment. The portions were decent and staff were friendly. I'd probably come here again but not highly recommended.

Came for dinner and a table for 6 was over an hours wait. Undeterred we put our name down and went across the hallway to the brewery to get a beer and wait. Got talking to the bar staff and they told us we could order take out food at Gringos and eat it there! Done! Ordered, picked it up in about 25 mins and ate it at the brewery, where the beer is good and always cold and refreshing. Nachos, fish and shrimp tacos were perfect and delicious as always!

I had the pork Street taco's and my wife had the fish tacos both we're good choices. The street tacos were a little spicey but not overpowering. The rice and beans were served in a separate dish and were likewise delicious. Can't wait to go back and try the marinaded pork tacos. Quaint atmosphere and excellent service.

Pros: We are Mexican food lovers and very picky about our food. This was the BEST Mexican food I have ever had! I had the chicken enchilada which where I come from looks like a quesadilla. Absolutely awesome! Get extra creamy habanero sauce! You can eat it by itself with chip! The chicken was shredded and sooooo tender. Also had the Jaco taco which was delicious! Everything we had was great and will definitely go back!

Man I love this spot. I want to be upfront about something, the tacos are expensive, you can go to other spots and get much cheaper ones. However, with that said, these are the best fish tacos in VB. Period. Everything is made from scratch, the salsa is fantastic and the food will blow you away. Be warned though, this spot is tiny. Get there early put your name on the list and head right across the hallway to Back Bay Brewing for a few beers while you wait. Stop by and see the lovely wait staff and prepare for some amazing food. You will not regret this

Come here after the Chesapeake Bay Distillery! It's walking distance and a great filling after the tasting. The tacos are fresh and made to order and so yummy! The restaurant itself of very small- maybe about 5 tables so I can imagine it gets crowded very quick. The tacos are a la carte but you can order a side of rice and beans for a set price. I ordered the shrimp and fish tacos which were really good. The chipotle sauce they used really took the tacos over the edge and gave it tons of flavor. The service was great. The waitress was very attentive and the food came out very quick. Def worth

As I write this I'm waiting to get in on a Saturday night. I was told 1.5 hour wait. But I was offered a drink as I wait so heck yeah. Oh my goodness! This is the best mojito I have ever had EVER. Nothing else matters now. Not only impressively beautiful, I feel like nothing could ever go wrong in life unless I'm the one driving.

This is easily the best fish tacos in Virginia Beach. So good I almost don't want to write this review because I don't want anyone else to know about it! Add the fresh made killer salsa and it is a no brainer.
It is a super small little hole in the wall so you have to be patient on the weekends. There is usually a wait. I wouldn't say it's the best place for kids. Way too small. Great third date place. :)

Omg this place is not a fave. Queso isn't Queso at ALL!...IT'S Flour with a hint a cheese....I was disappointed.
Chicken quesadilla tasted was like Starfish tuna of the sea, per my fiance.
My veggie enchiladas were gross with a layer of bubble cheese...
The Margaritas were decent but nothing to rave about
Baja tacos were runny and bland not sure why they had been winning an award...but easily they win for drip drop tacos

This is a COVID review. Let me start with this. Gringos is good...sometime inconsistent.
Pros:
The staff is friendly and they check on you often
The habanero lime sauce is THE BOMB
Cons:
The burritos lack seasoning
The queso dip wasn't as flavorful as it was when I ordered takeout a month prior and why is a small bowl of cheese $6.50 (questions that need answers)
In conclusion, I DO recommend them but give them time to get back to normal after all these different phased roll-outs of post COVID life.

Starting off great is the Chips and Roasted Tomato Salsa that was just the right balance of heat and freshness. The portion size of the chips and salsa was completely balanced. Excellent start, made better when we ordered the Chile Macho and more chips. Oh My God! If you are a salsa/sauce lover with your chips, look no further. I think this is one of the best dips I have ever had with chips. What makes me sad faced is the price though. I could easily go bankrupt buying loads of this for home.

Gringo's is a must when traveling to Virginia Beach! I ordered a gringo Baja shrimp and a Baja fish taco as well as a pork taco. I LOVE the baja signature tacos, they are amazing! The pork one was pretty good too. My wife went out on a limb and ordered a pineapple pork burrito. It wasn't bad but we were both expecting more of a "tacos AL pastor" vibe. That wasn't the case, we could barely taste or see any pineapple. Next time we'll be sticking with the tacos.
