This destination nestled within Citrus County is world renowned for the scalloping season. Our Homosassa scalloping captains are some of the best at hunting down these treasures. Scallops settle themselves in the grass beds of the Homosassa River every summer and spawn. After the spawning process scallop hunters take to the water to fill up on these delicacies of this shallow water Homosassa fishery.

We recently brought a troop of local Boy Scouts out to Pepper Island for an overnight stay followed by a fun filled day of scalloping. Boy Scouts or Captain Carey?! Boy Scouts of America is the ultimate form of learning by doing - offering more than 130 Merit Badges. It was truly an honor to host this troop of local Scouts and to watch each and every member explore their interests and improve their skills while working together.
