Homosassa Flats Fishing also referred to as "shallow water fishing" or "skinny water angling" is the sport of saltwater fishing using customized shallow water boats to access hard to reach fishing spots using a variety of tactics and baits to catch a diversity of saltwater fish species.
Florida is known as the "Fishing Capital of the World" and many areas of Florida (West Palm Beach, The Florida Keys, and Destin) are famous for world record offshore game fish.In those sections of Florida, the water depth increases rapidly allowing anglers to reach 50-100 feet of water quite quickly, where fishermen can locate schools of fish by searching for floating debris or targeting artificial reefs.

Homosassa Scalloping

Enjoy a half day of Homosassa Scalloping on the pristine grass flats of Homosassa. Capt Don can get you there and back quickly by staying off the beaten path in his custom built 24ft Carolina Skiff powered by 150hp Evinrude E-Tech. All licenses are furnished. You will need to bring a mask, snorkel and fins and a cooler with any food and beverages that you would like for the day.

I don't go out when the seas are too rough, or the weather conditions would make you and your party uncomfortable. During windy days, the inshore fishery can get a bit choppy on the way out or on the way back in, so if you think you need Dramamine, take it PRIOR to getting on the boat in the morning.

Hello everyone, I am Captain Don Chancey. I found that when I returned home I missed the experience. So every ounce of free time I had was spent on the water off the coast of Homosassa learning the waters and exploring the inshore and offshore fishery. I took my passion and the skills I'd gained from my fishing trips, obtained my captain's license and decided to take my fishing home and share my knowledge with others.

Captain provides: Bait, tackle, fishing licenses, expertise in targeting "in season" fishery, comfortable seating and extensive knowledge of the waters off the coast of Citrus County. Captain provides: Fishing license, safety equipment (dive flag and personal flotation devices), scallop collection bags, and knowledge of existing tide patterns to ensure arriving at the scallop "hot spots" during optimal snorkeling conditions.
