After citing morels as his favorite food in an interview, chef Tom Colicchio, then at the helm of Gramercy Tavern, got to thinking - Where can you go to eat just mushrooms, or order a bowl of sweet, tender peas when they're at their best in early spring? The idea of Craft evolved from there.
This would be a restaurant that mimicked the experience of dining in someone's home - simply prepared dishes highlighting pristine, seasonal ingredients; guests building their own plates from dishes brought to the center of the table.A timeless icon, Craft has altered the landscape of fine dining in America with its unique marriage of the finest ingredients and warm hospitality.

Great atmosphere, beautiful space, great drinks, good service, but the food was pretty average. Found it to be nothing special, and then factoring in the cost, probably not worth it. Judging by the other reviews, maybe we just got an off night or something? The group of 7 that I dined with all thought the same.

I literally eat out for a living and I have yet to have a culinary experience like I had at Craft. To say the food, the drinks, and the incredible staff were impressive would be the understatement of the century. I was completely WOW'd and cannot wait to go back and try their new restaurant next door, Vallata. Huge thank you to John, the GM, and the whole team for such a great night and I am so happy to recommend this restaurant group to my network!

The quality of food wasn't good, especially when considering the price. Nice ambiance but not worth the price in my opinion.
The fish was overcooked and cold in the middle which I've never experienced before, risotto was overcooked, angioloti bland with no taste for the filling, stale bread and over use of chives on everything.
Seems like there needs to be some better quality control.

Wow. Tom Colicchio's restaurant is amazing. We got there a few minutes before our reservation and they seated us immediately that beautiful Christmas tree was in the background. We were brought a amuse Bouche other potato leek soup that was awesome. The menu had so many choices that I wanted to try. The wine steward steered us in the right direction with a very nice bottle of Chardonnay.
One of my dining partners and I split the seared foie gras. There were two pieces so that was perfect for us to split! It was awesome. It came with a small piece of pear. I love foie gras with fruit.

Extremely strong service by staff going to the last detail such as pouring wine while holding the base and ensuring label is directed toward you (small but intentional detail). Duck was unbeatable. Pricing does represent that quality but for a proper occasion it is a great meal. Ideal for team dinners, guys night out, or client meal.

Great decor, nice place to eat, good service but the food was just not tasty. The entrees did not interest us so we stuck with appetizers. The burrata with oily sloppy peppers and anchovies did not taste good. The lumache with bolognese was dry and had too much parmesan already on it. The broccoli, sauteed greens, and beets were bland. Not sure why the servers weren't wearing masks.

Craft is a high-end farm to table restaurant. The menu, printed anew daily, lists the local farms and orchards that have supplied the day's ingredients. The bounty is delivered to the kitchen by 3pm daily and informs the offerings for the night. All ingredients are antibiotic free. The décor is modern and elegant rustic farmhouse with dark hues and naked light bulbs hanging from the ceiling.
The amuse-bouche was a hearty, creamy potato leek soup finished with a drop of celery oil. The octopus appetizer had a nice char on the outside and was grilled to the perfect consistency. It

I've always wanted to go to one of Tom Colicchio's restaurants in NYC and am glad that I finally had the opportunity to do so. Granted it was a Friday night, Craft was quite busy and I'm glad that my friend and I had reservations. We ordered a spread of food including the following below-
Heirloom tomato salad- good, nothing special.
Black truffle pasta- absolutely delicious. Smaller portions than I would've liked but literally melt in your mouth level good.
Roasted Black Hen of the Woods- I absolutely love mushrooms so I was really looking forward to trying this dish

Oh man, I can't wait to write this experience. Mind you, it actually started out really good. The beet salad was very good and the cocktails tasted unique.
HOWEVER, we were looking at the menu and the first course dishes just looked better to us than the main dishes, so we ordered a bunch and shared (alongside a couple rounds of drinks). Our total was about $400, then the waiter came over with the dessert menu. He said "there are some I would recommend that aren't that expensive". At that point, we were like... "Well that was a weird comment." Why did he cheapen

This restaurant was highly recommended by my co-worker who said it was one of the best meals she's had in a while and we completely agree! It was definitely one of the best meals we've had to date. My husband and I went here for our anniversary and they made custom menu's for us that said happy anniversary which was such a sweet and personal touch. Our waiter was incredible and gave fantastic drink and food recommendations. Below are some highlights:
Octopus with chorizo was a flavor explosion and super tender- one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had!

Fantastic farm-to-table restaurant in the Historic Flatiron District. I just went last night for my birthday and the menu was personalized in my name with a beautiful Happy Birthday dessert. This restaurant is excellent for a classy meal with family or colleagues in a sophisticated setting. I had grilled octopus for an app, scallops for dinner, an heirloom tomato salad, and the amazing marshmallow dessert. Highly recommend and will go back!

Celebrated my 40th bday last night with some dear friends. I dont really look to have extravagant celebrations every year. This year was no different, except...this time, the meal I wanted to be special. And special it was! From the moment we sat down, our server Connor made sure we were comfortable and taken care of with drinks. He made some helpful suggestions and gave us ample time to make our selections. The food...well what can one say about the food? It was simple, expertly prepared, and served with love and joy. Our favorites included the Duck, the Mushrooms, the Halibut, and the Spiced

Had the pleasure of dining at the Craft with a party of 7 celebrating a recent nuptial. Spent 5 hours there. We ordered and shared samples of multiple plates and the food was delicious. Dessert was scrumptious. Nice atmosphere. Beautiful space. Only complaint, air conditioning too cold. Bartender on the money. Was made a non alcoholic drink which was delicious. Staff was polite and attentive. Was scared at first to dine out, but staff checked guest's vaccination status and ID. Staff wore masks and guests wore or didn't wear masks. Seating was set at a safe distance apart. Had a great night out

My husband and I had our 10th anniversary dinner here back in July. We ood, service and ambiance didn't disappoint us! They even put our names on top of our menu! It was so sweet of them.
For appetizers, we had a dozen oysters and foie gras which were delicious! Then I had their signature Seared Scallops with shaved Truffles, because why not? My husband had Braised Beef Short Ribs. For the sides, we ordered Sauteed Greens and our favorite Roasted Black Hen of the Woods. For dessert, we ordered Chocolate Souffle. I must say that everything was exquisite and beyond mouthwatering! Would love

I had heard about this place through a few friends and they recommended I try it. We had a reservation for 10 and everything went smoothly.
Service was great but I expected a little more attention for the prices we were paying for the food. Also with such a large group I would except more than one person to help out our table.
We ordered plenty of items. I did not have the chance to take a picture of all of them.
All of the food, for the most part, was good. Nothing blew me away by any means. It was all cooked perfectly but I really can't put into words what it lacked. However the peppers

Incredible dining experience!! The food and service was outstanding. I recommend getting a little snot of everything with your group and sharing because that's how wonderful the dishes are. If I had to choose my favorite dish it would be the scallops (cooked to perfection). Enjoyed a lovely evening with family drinking very delicious wine.

It's not a misnomer. There is a real sense of craftsmanship in the way they prepare food. They brilliantly distinguish themselves from the ever growing herd of Instagram-friendly restaurants that serve you colorful dishes with 50 random ingredients sprinkled, shaved, and mounted on top of one another. Here, they focus on tasty ingredients, minimalist presentation, and clear flavors. The spacious room seems covid-designed, with lots of room between tables but warm atmosphere with wooden walls and a wine library. Super friendly staff who basically wanted to adopt our dog.

Wife and I came back to Craft after a while away, at 6:00 on a Thursday night. A recent review (Times? Eater?) referred to Craft as "grease and herbs", which is pretty close to the mark (not that grease and herbs are bad).
I started with grilled octopus with white beans and peppers, which seems to be everywhere these days, but I'm not complaining, it's everywhere b/c it's delicious. Octopus had a nice char on it, but it could not have lived up to what Craft is asking for it.
My wife had an arugula salad w/ pecorino & toasted pignoli nuts, which was perfect. As Chef

I've been to a few of Tom's restaurants and have had wonderful, tasty experiences (what up Craftsteak!). Luckily, I scored a last minute weekend reservation 15 minutes before dining time-- yes! The menu has a variety of pasta, meat, and side dishes. The cocktail menu is a mix of seasonal and classic and there are a bunch of local brews.
Our server(s) were knowledgeable and friendly. Water glasses were consistently refilled and plates/silverware changed according to course. Unfortunately, after putting in my order for the Wild Boar Pappardelle, the server returned a short time later

Garlic lovers galore. What a fantastic meal from start to finish! We started with a complimentary little cup of soup which was delish. Next we got the marinated himachi and cured arctic char of which the hamachi was delicate and refreshing while the char was flavorful and just as delicious. For entrée I had the halibut and my boyfriend ordered the red snapper. At first I liked the snapper better, but once I combined the garnishes and side dishes with the halibut I was beyond happy with my dish! For sides we ordered the potato puree, romanesco, and hedgehog mushrooms. All I have to say is WOW.

My coworkers swear by Craft. So much that they've frequented once per NY trip the past 9 years from what they've told me.
Naturally, I had to come visit for myself with them on one of the trips.
Perhaps I came on a bad night but I was left feeling hungry for the leftover lox bagel in my hotel fridge.
The steak I ordered wasn't overcooked or anything but lacked juiciness and caused me to chew an exorbitant amount until I still couldn't break it down and had to spit it out. My coworkers also pointed out that it wasn't what they had remembered that night after noticing
