Sailing Programs

Scuba Diving

Director
Mike Meighan leads Action Quest's British Virgin Islands programs with 25+ years of maritime education experience. A marine biology graduate, he developed Sea|mester's college-accredited at-sea curriculum and continues to shape Action Quest's educational approach while maintaining active program involvement.
Jim Stoll
Founder
Jim Stoll founded Action Quest in 1986 after establishing successful sailing programs. With 50+ years in maritime education, he pioneered experiential learning at sea and created GoBeyond Service Learning programs. His vision continues to shape the organization's educational philosophy.

Our son is definitely more confident, talkative, empathetic and motivated about his future after coming back from his trip. The perfect combination of independence, co-living, learning and no electronics! I loved having the blogs to read, so kudos for those. On a non-CoVid year, I could see that this is a well-worn path that AQ has perfected over the years, but they should be commended for stepping up and adapting to the CoVid testing, restrictions, and challenges this summer presented.

It was a great experience for my child. Not only fun but for growth as a person and for learning teamwork and some independence and responsibility. Beyond the training, I think it is great preparation for life. Teenagers are put in a position where they are away from their parents interference, away from devices and with total strangers and have to work together to get through each day. Everyone has responsibilities and expectations. This is not a luxury boat where someone is serving them and pampering them. They have to take care of themselves and others and be part of a team. That can be difficult

Amazing program, great experiences, wonderful connectivity with parents, great facilities, and the level of communication is amazing! All good - and in this time of COVID, the team went way beyond the minimal to insure we had everything we needed to insure our kids could participate safely, and easily (though not without work, but it was laid out perfectly and easily understood). The notes the kids rote at the end of the cruise in 2019 have been in a place of easy reach - for her to reference when she needs a boost. And she has stayed in contact with those friends made in 2019 - and I do not mean

Because Action Quest has been one of, if not the best oppertunities of my life and I wish that everyone could have the opportunity to experience it, because it is truly amazing. Everything. But seriously the diving, sailing, marine bio, etc are great but you cant beat the people. The people you meet are what really make the program special and can make or break the experience.

It was the best three weeks of my life! the food exceeded standards for food that was served on a boat. Some of our groups most meaningful conversations came out of life works. I loved all of them. The environment is incredible. I really hope to return for an internship next summer!!!
