A year-round surf school in the Hamptons, led by professional surfer Kurt Rist and his trained team of instructors. Looking deeper into the history the of surfing, the Ancient Hawaiians called it hee nalu, which translates close to 'wave sliding.' To them it was seen as an art, with a high spiritual affiliation.
We respect the ocean and it's rhythms, and we teach all of our students to do the same. This respect creates a safe environment where we can all have fun and accelerate. Surfing is a great way to be in sync with nature. The natural speed of riding a wave is a one of a kind "rush." While having fun with your friends in the sun and waves, you are also strengthening your body, mind and spirit.

Report
A collection of photo & video stories, from the surf school, and from our team's world surf trips. Kurt's a low key New York charger who often travels across the Atlantic to find Irish gold and giant emerald slabs. When Rist, 29, talks about "risk assessment" in big-wave surfing, he's making decisions about whether or not to jump into the Pacific Ocean in southern Mexico when the waves are 60 feet high.
