Bats
Report
IMPORTANT: If you wake up in the same room with a bat, call us immediately. You may have been bitten in your sleep and the bat needs to be tested for rabies. Bat bites can easily go unnoticed and looking for bites on your skin may not be entirely reliable. Bite wounds from a bat appear as a very small scratch less than a millimeter long.
Mice
Report
IMPORTANT: Since the females breed year-round and have 5-10 litters each year, consisting of 5 or 6 offspring each, house mice are notorious for taking over a property very quickly. It is vital that you keep mouse population in your home under control at all times. There are other types of mice that occupy homes, but in Massachusetts, the house mouse is the most common.
Squirrels
Report
IMPORTANT: Squirrels are wild animals and can carry the life-threatening disease rabies. In order to avoid significant risk to you, your family, and your pets keep a great distance away from any squirrels that have entered your home. Squirrels have certainly been known to fall down chimneys and get stuck in fireplaces all over Massachusetts, Rhode Island and other New England states.
Raccoons
Report
IMPORTANT: Raccoons commonly hibernate and raise their young in chimneys. If you suspect there is a raccoon in your chimney, do NOT light a fire or open your damper. You don't want an angry raccoon running around your home! Raccoons are certainly very cute, but they are also perhaps one of the most destructive wild animals in Massachusetts.
