Cambridge Nursery School was founded in 1923 by noted educator Abigail Eliot who believed in "children's imagination, and in giving children a chance to do the things which they naturally do and to grow at their own pace." Abigail Eliot was guided by the belief that young children learn much of what they need to know through play.

Program/Tuition

Teachers provide a daily routine that affords the children the opportunity to investigate many materials, both independently and in teacher-directed projects. The morning begins with an extended period of free play that includes opportunities for children to explore independently or work in small groups.

Cooperative

Report

A parent cooperative is a school that is owned by the families. Parents play an important role in helping to support and manage the program. A cooperative is unlike a standard preschool or daycare setting because it incorporates and benefits the whole family; parents are part of a community of many first-time parents and are able both to support other parents and feel supported and involved in their child's first school experience.

Enrollment

We strongly encourage interested families to visit our school. We schedule an Open House each fall, giving families the opportunity to visit the school with their children. Alternatively, or in addition, you can schedule a tour of the school to observe a school day in progress and meet with the Director.
