Using Therapeutic Riding we're building better lives and brighter futures for children and adults with special needs. SunnyBrook Meadows Therapeutic Riding is a Christ centered organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through therapeutic horseback riding and other related activities.
Therapeutic horseback riding reaches out to children and adults in the community with special needs by providing a program that is not only beneficial but enjoyable. Children and adults with disabilities can benefit physically, mentally and emotionally from horseback riding. In addition, the sensory input to a person through the horse is similar to the human gait.

With practices starting on Saturday mornings in February, a separate Special Olympics equestrian program works toward a local competition in April. Select riders from this group also attend the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania Annual Summer Games held in State College in early June!. During the warmer months, the riders enjoy the wonderful trails through the wooded area around the farm.

Olivia has been a rider with SunnyBrook Meadows for just over a year. When we drive over Route 15, Olivia knows exactly where she is and recognizes the driveway to SunnyBrook Meadows! Her bouncing in the car and clapping hands tells us that she is thrilled to be at the horse barn again! Olivia is learning patience when she is required to wait for her turn to ride the horse.
