At Claiborne & Churchill, we are dedicated to crafting premium, sustainably produced wines that reflect the unique terroir of California's Central Coast. Founded in 1983 by Claiborne (Clay) Thompson and Fredericka Churchill Thompson, our family-owned winery draws inspiration from the dry aromatic whites of Alsace, specializing in Riesling, Gewrztraminer, and Pinot Gris, alongside handcrafted Pinot Noirs and Syrahs. Our commitment to environmental stewardship is evident in our innovative straw bale winery, which maintains natural cellar temperatures without mechanical intervention. With over four decades of experience, we produce approximately 8,000 cases annually, sourcing grapes from cool maritime valleys and our own estate vineyards.
