First Class Driving School is the oldest and most respected driving school in the Ark-La-Tex. Our owners and Certified Trainers, Jill and Bud Chauncy, have been making the streets of Shreveport-Bossier safer SINCE 1993. First Class Driving School is often interviewed by both local and national media for their expertise on traffic safety.
Jill and Bud Chauncy, and our First Class Team members, are involved in community groups on reducing young driver crashes, underage drinking, passenger safety, railroad safety, teen court, MADD and many other safety advocacy groups. Mr. and Mrs. Chauncy are Master Trainers. Both train driving instructors at local, state and national levels.

18 + Pre-licensing Course

More Information About Acquiring a TIP. Louisiana Law requires anyone 18 years of age or older who desires a driver's license to take a "14 Hour Pre-licensing Course", which includes 6 hours of In-Class Training and 8 Hours of Behind the Wheel Training. NOTE: Anyone 15 to 17 years of age wanting to acquire their license must take 30 hours of class and 8 hours of Behind the Wheel Training.

First Class Driving School will set appointments, eliminating the typical 2-3 hour wait time at the DMV. We usually have you in and out in less than 30 minutes. How much is your time worth? Our test vehicles are easy to drive and there will be no risk of wasting all that time and being sent home because of an inspection sticker, crack in the windshield, or even a simple blown out light bulb.

Anyone applying for a first-time driver's license in Louisiana is required to pass the Written Knowledge Exam, and road test. First Class Driving School is certified by, and partnered with DPS to offer you the actual DPS Written Knowledge Exam and the actual Louisiana DPS Road Test. Who can benefit?

Special Needs Drivers

We now offer a clinical evaluation along with an in-vehicle evaluation with an Occupational Therapist who is also a Driver Rehabilitation Specialist. Summer Powell has worked for La Tech University Center for Biomedical Engineering Rehabilitation Science. She is familiar with prescribing adaptive equipment when needed.
