Long before ThomaStudios opened in 1984, private instruction was a mainstay. JD Thomas began giving private lessons to students while in college and continues to this day. ThomaStudios is located in West Linn, Oregon, southwest of Portland. However, lessons take place in the student's home, which not only makes it very convenient for the student (and parents), but it also creates the best possible learning experience.
Taking the lesson in a familiar environment, and on the same instrument where you practice, helps keep the atmosphere relaxed and fun. But this is an important note for those of you thinking about signing up for my one-on-one private lessons in your home. Currently, these lessons are limited geographically to the cities of Lake Oswego and West Linn OR.

JD Thomas was not my son's first piano teacher, but he has definitely been the best. Over the past 2 1/2 years, JD has really made an effort to get to know my son and personalize instruction to his needs. He's a really nice guy, but more importantly, he really knows how to teach and motivate younger children.

JD can be contacted by phone, text, or email. Did you lose or misplace your handout? Did your dog eat it? Or maybe a younger brother or sister decided to use it for their next great work of art! Fear not. This is the place to get another one. Levels are color-coded to match the cover on the books. Depending on file size and your connection speed, you should see the file displayed on your screen once it downloads.
Cancelation / Reschedule

Because ThomaStudios specializes in giving private piano lessons in your home, special consideration is necessary when dealing with the cancelation or rescheduling of a lesson. Any cancelation of a lesson must be made a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the scheduled lesson time. This also applies to any change to the scheduled lesson time.

Everything, with the exception of the core books used. They are $7 to $9, depending on the level needed. All other materials are included: additional pieces that parallel the material from the books, FlashCards, assignment books, etc. No. JD will bring the required books to the lessons and you will simply reimburse him at that time.
