Family-Owned Winery Crafting Premium Wines in Santa Margarita
Vintage Cowboy Winery is a family-owned and operated business rooted in five generations of ranching heritage in San Luis Obispo County. Our vineyard, planted in 1995 beneath the Santa Lucia Mountain Range, benefits from coastal influences and extreme temperature fluctuations that create uniquely flavorful wines. Steve and Debbie Arnold oversee vineyard operations, drawing on decades of agricultural expertise, including leadership roles in local and state cattle associations. Our winemaker, Joey Arnold, combines 20 years of experience with a passion for viticulture, while Michelle Pascoe manages day-to-day operations and wine club logistics. We prioritize cowboy values, sustainability, and community engagement through events and partnerships. Our wines reflect the terroir of our estate vineyard, offering complex profiles shaped by San Luis Obispos unique climate. As stewards of this land, we balance tradition with innovation to produce wines that honor our heritage. Our familys deep ties to ranching and agriculture inform every aspect of our winemaking process. We invite customers to experience our wines through our tasting room, wine club, and seasonal events. Our commitment to quality and authenticity has made us a trusted name in Californias wine country.

If you are looking for a very nice, kind and fun family run winery this is it. Seriously the best Merlot we have ever had and served by really cool people who have been on the land for 100+ years. Definitely worth the drive and a great place to spend an afternoon. Thanks guys for a great afternoon, great conversation and GREAT wine! :)

The owners poured the wine themselves, and were extremely gracious and interesting regarding local history. I especially loved the zinfadel. We had some great burgers next door at the Pozo Saloon.

My favorite winery in the region. Far from other Paso wineries, but worth the drive. Beautiful views, quiet open space, perfect to get away from the noise and sip a good glass of wine (and bring a picnic lunch). People are always friendly and many a good conversation has been had here.
