Services
Tongue Thrust Treatment
Our specialized program corrects improper tongue positioning and swallowing patterns that cause dental misalignment and speech issues. Through targeted exercises, patients learn proper tongue rest posture and swallowing mechanics to prevent orthodontic relapse. This non-invasive treatment works by retraining muscle memory through daily practice and behavioral modification techniques.
Voice Disorders
We address hoarseness, chronic coughing, and vocal fatigue through breathing retraining and vocal cord strengthening exercises. Treatment focuses on eliminating mouth breathing habits that strain vocal cords while improving nasal breathing patterns for healthier voice production and reduced throat irritation.
Swallowing Disorders
Our approach corrects improper swallowing mechanics by strengthening tongue muscles and retraining coordination patterns. Patients learn techniques to improve food bolus control and prevent aspiration while addressing underlying causes like weak oral musculature or improper tongue positioning.
Snoring Relief
This program targets the root causes of snoring through tongue muscle strengthening and nasal breathing retraining. Patients develop proper tongue positioning during sleep to maintain airway patency, reducing or eliminating snoring through consistent daily practice of specific myofunctional exercises.
Telehealth Speech Therapy
Our telehealth platform delivers the same clinical effectiveness as in-person sessions through interactive video conferencing. Patients receive personalized instruction and real-time feedback on exercises while eliminating travel time and costs, making therapy accessible from any location with internet connectivity.

Before my son even started I knew this place was going to be great. Janet worked with my insurance for hours figuring out exactly what was needed in order to get his therapy covered. He saw therapist Julie for only about 8 sessions before the virus hit and what a difference those few sessions made. She helped him and also taught us things we can do at home to enable his communication skills. Before my son spoke mostly in phrases he had memorized but now he's using his imagination and telling us great stories. His tantrums have gone down a lot now that he is able to better communicate his needs

Janet's exercises were easy to follow and resulted in better swallowing and more awareness of the position of my tongue. Lisping is very much reduced too. As a senior citizen, I was surprised how quickly this occurred.!

I saw a dramatic improvement in my symptoms from my very first visit, and more than a year later, my voice is stronger than ever.
Janet is a lovely person and a terrific therapist. She is professional, smart, kind, compassionate, and funny.
Diagnosed with muscle tension dysphonia, I started to lose my voice again after five months of recovery. I enjoyed working with Janet and found her treatment plan to be easy, effective, and affordable. In addition to my voice returning, I also noticed I was experiencing better sleep and having less leg pain - something that had plagued me for more than 50

My son has autism and he has been with Asheville Speech since he was a toddler, and he is 15 years old now. We recently had some trouble with our insurance and we thought that we were going to have to stop therapy. Janet Bennet (who I think is the sweetest and most caring person that I know) researched and found a grant to help us out! We were so greatfull!! His therapist Amy Harter has done such a great job with him. He has progressed so much not only just with his speech but, also with his reading, puntuation. and comprehension. I would recommend Asheville Speech to anyone! You will be well satisfied

My son saw Julie. When he started at age three he had a very small vocabulary, in less than a year he was using small sentences. It was an amazing experience. The therapists really work with you and your schedule. They care about the development of your child. I was very impressed with every aspect of their business!
